About me:
Hairil is a senior lecturer in Medical Imaging at the University of Exeter. His area of expertise is mainly in PET/CT imaging technology. He serves as a full member of the British Nuclear Medicine Society (BNMS), an associate member of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM), a member of the Australian Nanotechnology Network (ANN) and one of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts where in the 2017 year he went for an expert mission to Jaber Al Ahmad Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Centre in Kuwait.
He is currently involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules, academic tutoring of undergraduate students, mentoring of undergraduate apprentices, and supervising and co-supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects at the University of Exeter and several public universities in Malaysia. He has extensive experience as internal and external thesis examiners (PhD and MSc by research). He has been appointed as an Academic Conduct Officer (ACO) for Medical Imaging Programme, Department of Health and Care Professions, University of Exeter.
Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Hairil was an Associate Professor in Radiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University Putra Malaysia (UPM). His radiography career started in the year 2004 where he worked as radiographer at a private hospital in Penang, Malaysia.
Research interests:
Hairil has diverse research interests in medical imaging particularly for PET/CT, nanoparticles contrast media, CT scan, radiographic phantom development and radiation dosimetry.
