About me:
Fiona joined the University of Exeter in August 2021. Fiona has had a varied career within both medical imaging and radiotherapy in both clinical and academic practice. Fiona has a keen interest in research, particularly related to medical imaging and musculoskeletal conditions, and continues to work clinically in both x-ray and CT imaging.
Fiona is currently involved in teaching undergraduate modules and supervising and co-supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects at the University of Exeter. She is also the program director for the BSc (Hons) diagnostic radiography and imaging degree apprenticeship, and the responsible person for Fitness to Practice within medical imaging.
Interests:
Fiona’s PhD used fluoroscopy and tracking algorithms to measure dynamic lumber spine motion in people with and without chronic low back pain which was titled “An evaluation of passive recumbent quantitative fluoroscopy to measure mid-lumbar intervertebral motion in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain and healthy volunteers”. Since then, she has collaborated with a number of professions including biomechanics, chiropractors, physiotherapists osteopaths, computer scientists and physicists to continue research into the uses of medical imaging and biomechanics.
