Ms Ana Gomez Corrales
Research Fellow
Academy of Nursing
About me:
Ana joined the University of Exeter in September 2022 as a Research Fellow in Simulation with the Nursing and Medical Imaging teams.
She is currently involved in undergraduate teaching of clinical skills and simulation activities across Nursing and Medical Imaging teams. Ana is undertaking research on exploring the value and potential of virtual reality training within nurse education to enhance the learning and teaching of clinical skills. Ana is now undergoing her PhD studentship parti time under the supervision of Professor Karen Mattick, Dr Daniele Carrieri, Professor Rola Ajjawi, Dr Christy Noble and Dr Richard Conn. The aim of her research study is to optimize prescribing feedback conversations that are embedded in everyday workplace activities and interactions in the UK and Australia.
Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Ana was working as an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) within the NHS, accountable for the total episode of care for neonates and their families with undifferentiated and undiagnosed needs. Outside her role at the local NHS trust, Ana contributed, as a guest lecturer, to the teaching education excellence at the School of Health Sciences at City, University of London, and the University of the West of England, facilitating teaching on neonatal physiopathology and the importance of a strong partnership between neonatal and maternity services to midwifery students at postgraduate level.
